no guilt in life, no fear in death.

“so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without
fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like
stars in the universe” [[philippians 2:15]]

can’t sleep. this verse popped into my head and heart. it’s so challenging to us as children of God. we are called to be blameless [free from or not deserving blame or guilt] and pure [free from anything different; free from foreign or inappropriate elements; unmodified; without discordant quality; clean, spotless, unsoiled; untainted with evil] in this crooked [deformed; askew; not straightforward, dishonest] and depraved [corrupt, wicked, perverted, sinful] generation. and we are to shine [to give forth or glow light; to appear brightly; to reflect emitted light] like the stars in the nightly heavens. how awesome is that.

love.

If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. [[1 Corinthians 13:3-8a & 13]]

so, i’ve read this passage more times than i can remember. and i’ve quoted it almost daily. but today, it struck a different cord in me.

if i don’t have love, i have nothing.
love is patient.
love is kind.
love is not jealous and does not envy.
love does not brag or boast.
love is not arrogant or proud.
love is not rude.
love is not self-seeking or selfish.
love is not easily angered.
loves keeps no record of wrongs or hold grudges.
love does not delight in evil.
love rejoices in the truth.
love always protects.
love always trusts.
love always hopes.
love always perseveres.
love never fails.

Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. [[1 John 4:7a & 8]]

Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. [[1 John 4:11b-12]]

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. [[1 John 4: 18]]
He is love.
He loves me.
I am loved.

identity.

this passage is ROCKING my world right now:

Ephesians 2:1-10

“Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For He raised us from the dead (we are ALIVE in Him!) along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”

i am ALIVE in Christ. He is my identity. when i ask “who am i?” He says, “I AM THAT I AM.” i am not, He is. i strive to live this out in my life…and when i do, i am FREE. and i am His. and nothing else matters to me.
