If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. so, i’ve read this passage more times than i can remember. and i’ve quoted it almost daily. but today, it struck a different cord in me.

if i don’t have love, i have nothing.
love is patient.
love is kind.
love is not jealous and does not envy.
love does not brag or boast.
love is not arrogant or proud.
love is not rude.
love is not self-seeking or selfish.
love is not easily angered.
loves keeps no record of wrongs or hold grudges.
love does not delight in evil.
love rejoices in the truth.
love always protects.
love always trusts.
love always hopes.
love always perseveres.
love never fails.

Let us love one another, for love comes from God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. [[1 John 4:7a & 8]]

Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. [[1 John 4:11b-12]]

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. [[1 John 4: 18]]
